Join us for our Fall chapter event where we highlight the incredible work being done with immersive technology to make the world better through social causes, research, and education. We are excited to host a number of speakers to share their stories and demonstrate how immersive technology is enabling a wide range of positive progress. Final lineup to be announced, but we will be having individuals from universities, including professors and academic researchers, as well as those from the non-profit sector.

VRARA Richmond Chapter Event: VR and AR in Entertainment

For our next chapter event, we are very excited to take an in-depth look at the state of VR in the entertainment industry—from cinema and storytelling to gaming and beyond. We’ll be highlighting the Richmond industry professionals who are using this exciting medium to its fullest potential, right here in the River City. 

We are very pleased to welcome Mark Lambert and his team at VArtisans to discuss how they are using Virtual Reality and 360º video to virtually transport users to exciting locations around the world. Mark has decades of VFX and film production experience, working on dozens of projects including Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Polar Express, and Narnia: The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe. He’ll be discussing his journey into the immersive space, sharing his take on the current state of the industry, and highlighting some of the work that VArtisans has been producing.

Additionally, we are excited to welcome several members of RVA Game Jams to share their experiences developing games in VR. We’ll be welcoming Robbie Ciszek, Tyler Rhodes, and Momin Khan to discuss the nuances of VR game dev and share some interactive demos with everyone!

AR Panel Discussion - VR/AR Association, Richmond Chapter Event

Join the Richmond Chapter of the VR/AR Association for a panel discussion on Augmented Reality!

For our next chapter event, we will be hosting a panel discussion on the state of AR in the Greater Richmond Area. We’re very excited to be hosting some true leaders in the scene that are doing very exciting AR work right here in Virginia. Jonathan Martin from Newport News Shipbuilding, Greg Werkheiser and his team from ARtGlass, Doug Nunn from Capital One and Creative Mornings, and experience designer Angelica Ortiz.

The event will be held on Wednesday, March 14th at 5:30 PM at the Shockoe.com offices in Scott’s Addition. Address is 3122 W. Marshall St. Suite 200 (use the entrance on the side by the parking lot). Thanks to the generous support of Shockoe and the VR/AR Association Richmond Chapter, this event will also be free of charge to the public, so we hope to see you there.
